I Know Who Holds Tomorrow!

Today is our first meeting for The Daniel Plan, and I know that at 2:30 several people will be gathering with me to begin a life changing experience; and as excited as I am about it, I am also apprehensive. And I bet I am not alone, I did not get my body in this shape overnight, and I am not going to fix it overnight either. Do you join me in wondering what our tomorrows are going to look like?

I have told you before that I love music and it has the power to comfort and build me up. So as I was preparing myself to lead this group I found a song called “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow” it was written by Ira Stanphill a singing evangelist who has written around 400 gospel songs. In the 1940s he fell into hard times, his wife left him, and he said his life was shattered. As he sank deeper and deeper into depression, he wondered if he should give up his ministry in a large church and school of music. Then one day he began humming a tune and then putting words to the tune, words about not knowing the future but realizing that God knew. He had not written anything in months while in his depression, but now the words and the melody flowed giving him peace. His questions weren’t all answered, but he was content to leave them with the One who holds tomorrow, the One who was walking with him each step of the way.

I don’t know about tomorrow,

I just live from day to day;

And I don’t borrow the sunshine

‘cause the skies might turn to gray.

There are things about tomorrow

That I don’t seem to understand;

But I know who holds tomorrow

And I know He holds my hand.

And I don’t worry about the future

‘cause I know what Jesus said

And today I’m gonna walk right beside Him

‘cause He’s the one who knows what lies ahead.

And each step is getting brighter

As these golden stairs I clime;

And every burden is getting lighter,

And all the clouds, they’re silver lined.

And over there the sun it’s always shining;

There no tears will dim the eye.

And at the ending of the rainbow

Where the mountains touch the sky.

I know that God is walking with me, and He is walking with each of you. He is ready and waiting to make our steps lighter and give us a hope for the days to come. The Daniel Plan starts off with us building up our faith, and I can see why; because without our faith in God to help us we would just be wasting our time.

Whether you will be with us today or you are doing the study at home and using this blog to link yourself with us, know that God is on our side and He is ready to give us the desires of our heart all we need to do is ask. Philippians 4:6 reminds us “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” So don’t be worried about tomorrow but take all things to the Lord in prayer.

See you at 2:30!

A Prayer for Today

"Heavenly Father, We may not know what our next days will look like, but we have confidence in your love and that You know each of our days. Be with us today as start on our journey to wellness, we pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen."
