I want a 2.0 version of me!

One of the many things that I am looking forward to in heaven is my new and improved body! How about you? We don’t know what our resurrected bodies will be like, but in 2 Corinthians 5:1-2 it says “we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself … we will put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing.” That sounds pretty good to me I bet it does to you too! Today we are living in our 1.0 version of our bodies, but God promises an upgrade; with no blemishes, no broken parts, and best of all no pain.

My mother worked at a factory job when I was growing up and that meant different shifts, so she was either working or sleeping most of the time. But there was one time a month just as she changed from one shift to the other, that she would get three days off in a row. That was our time together and one of my favorite things we did was shop. We would call it our shop till we dropped day! There was one tradition that I loved the most, at some point in the day I would get a complete new outfit of clothes. I would go in the fitting room and change out of what I left home wearing, and come out different. I would not only look different but I would feel different. Ladies I know you get what I mean.

It goes on to say in 2 Corinthian 5:2 that “we grow weary in our present bodies, and that we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing” I was weary of how I looked in the clothes I had started the day out in, in fact in my head I had felt like I had out grown them and wanted new clothes that fit the new me. I am very weary of the clothes that are in my closet, but until I fix the body that I am also tired of, can I put on new ones.

I spoke before that I have been trying to lose weight for a long time, I have been trying to eat less, I have been trying to exercise more, you get the point I am just tired of TRYING! Pastor Warren wants us to know why the Daniel Plan is different than all the other approaches to accomplish these goals. It is built on trusting in Gods power, not on our own willpower. He goes on to say “Let’s face it, willpower works for a few weeks, or maybe a month or two at best. Trying to change by willpower alone is exhausting.” It is no wonder I have been tiring myself out with all this trying, I have been asking God to show me a way, but not turning to Him, to power me up!

I have had my unhealthy habits for a long time, and they will not go away overnight. That is why the key to long-lasting success is to develop new positive habits to replace them. Ephesians 4:22 says ‘"put off your old self, and put on the new self.” I am not in a hurry for my 2.0 body but I could use a 1.5 improvement!

Our “Daniel Days” as I am thinking of them are Wednesdays for six weeks which makes it a 40 day adventure, this will be a time to start some new habits, but those habits won’t last if we don’t do as Pastor Warren says and “dig down to the bedrock of truth about your life and God’s purpose for it. This program is only an introduction to get you started on the right pathway, but the journey will take the rest of your life.”

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring us!

A Prayer for Today

"Heavenly Father, thank You for Your goodness. Thank You for finding joy in seeing me succeed. Help me to see my life the way You see it. Help me to see and declare the blessing and victory You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen."
